Book # 1: God's Forgetful Pilgrims

Title: God's Forgetful Pilgrims

Author: Michael Griffiths

Have I read this book before? Yes.

How obtained? I bought this book between 1998 and 2001 on a book buying trip in Michigan with Brian Miller, the pastor who married my wife and myself.

Why this book?  When I was in college, Mark Malan, an intervarsity staff member recommended reading books that were not text books on a regular basis.  He even developed a reading plan.  This book about the church was on the 3rd level of the reading plan.  Unfortunately, it was very difficult to come by.  It wasn't until years after college that I came across it on the above reference book buying trip at a used book store in Michigan.

Fun Fact: This book was originally published in Great Britain under the title, Cinderella with Amnesia: A Restatement in Contemporary Terms of the Biblical Doctrine of the Church.

Quote from the Book: The reason for this book is the fact that some Christians have no real understanding of the church at all. (p. 140 of the 1983 reprint)

Here's what someone else thinks of this book.  Author Randy Alcorn from his blog, 11/14/16.

What did I think: I think it is an amazing book and would wholly recommend it for anyone interested in being part of a biblically based revitalization of the church.

I finished reading this book on 5/30/2022 on my 2nd day of my 100 days of Summer Reading.  This put me on pace to finish 50 books by Labor Day.
